Artificial intelligence is making software development faster, but for companies operating complex enterprise systems, speed alone is not enough. Integrating AI into existing technology environments also requires governance, reliable infrastructure and measurable results. Academic HealthPlans (AHP) is addressing that challenge through a multi-year partnership with Gorilla Logic to modernize its engineering operations and scale AI-enabled software development.
The collaboration will focus on strengthening AHP’s core technology platform, improving software delivery and establishing a more measurable approach to product development and customer service.
The announcement comes shortly after Anthropic named Gorilla Logic a Select Services Partner in its Claude Partner Network, adding another dimension to the engineering company’s work around enterprise AI adoption.
AHP, part of the Brown & Brown Team, provides student health and wellness consulting and plan administration services to colleges and universities across the United States. With nearly three decades of experience in the sector, the company is investing in technology, data and engineering capabilities to address increasingly complex institutional requirements and bring new capabilities to market faster.
“AI creates an opportunity to fundamentally improve how we operate and how we serve our clients, but the goal is bigger than simply introducing new technology,” said Terry Lyons, CEO of Academic HealthPlans.
Moving beyond AI experimentation
The first phase of the partnership has involved an AI-enabled assessment of AHP’s existing technology and engineering environment. The process combines AI-assisted analysis with hands-on engineering expertise to identify modernization opportunities and determine where changes could deliver the greatest operational impact.
The broader initiative will introduce governed AI-enabled engineering workflows, shared technical knowledge and a framework to measure software delivery performance.
These metrics will track development velocity, reliability and predictability, giving teams greater visibility into how engineering processes perform over time.
Gorilla Logic will also bring its Construct™ engineering system to the collaboration. The framework combines reusable expertise, reference architectures, accelerators and established delivery practices to support software development across enterprise environments.
For Gorilla Logic CEO Drew Naukam, the partnership is an opportunity to combine AHP’s specialized knowledge of the student health sector with an engineering model designed around its operational needs.
“AI can increase the speed of software development, but enterprise-grade technology still requires governance, sound engineering practices and experienced judgment,” Naukam said.
That distinction is central to the initiative. While generative AI and AI-assisted development tools can accelerate coding and other engineering tasks, deploying them across an enterprise requires technical standards, oversight and processes that can be evaluated against business objectives.

AI as part of enterprise infrastructure
The partnership reflects a broader shift in how companies are approaching AI adoption. Rather than treating artificial intelligence as an isolated productivity tool, organizations are increasingly looking at how it can become part of their underlying technology and operational infrastructure.
For AHP, the expected outcomes extend beyond software development. The companies aim to give engineering teams greater autonomy, make delivery more predictable and create conditions for innovation to scale across the organization.
The initiative is also expected to strengthen AHP’s ability to use data and AI to generate deeper insights for the colleges and universities it serves, where student health programs must respond to evolving institutional requirements.
However, the companies have not disclosed specific financial targets, productivity benchmarks or a detailed implementation timeline.
“Technology is increasingly central to how we help institutions navigate the complexity of student health,” Lyons said. “This partnership is an investment in where that experience goes next.”
Founded in 1998, Academic HealthPlans develops customized student health benefit programs and administrative services in collaboration with insurance carriers, claims administrators, provider networks and other partners.
Gorilla Logic provides AI-native product and platform engineering, AI agents, workflow automation, AI-enabled software delivery and enterprise integration services.
